Wow! Mirboo North Winterfest spent months figuring out how to get fire – spectacular fire – happening at our event, and then we found Pyromancer & Co.

Any worries that we had about doing fire safely, and about finding an insurance cover that recognised this, were quickly alleviated by the professionalism with which Pyromancer & Co. approached this issue.

Aidan spent the weeks leading up to our event clearly communicating everything that was required from all parties to deliver a fire sculpture safely and well, and in the process helped enlighten us about possibilities for running with more of these kinds of projects into the future.

And then we met Bumbler, the beautiful banksia pod that Pyromancer & Co. had created to symbolise renewal after the devastating storm that had hit Mirboo North earlier this year. So beautiful, and yet also so stunning to see set alight!

From destruction to beauty then destruction and then beauty again – Bumbler gave us a fire that roared into the night and helped a community to stop, stand still and heal.

The fire sculpture was always going to be a next level element for us, but then to see it come to fruition, and to reflect on the impermanence of all things, and on the beauty of that …!

We just can’t speak highly enough of Pyromancer & Co., and of all that they brought to our event. Magnificent crew, beautiful creativity, and impeccable approach to OH&S.

If you’re an event organiser, do yourself a favour . And then tell all the people – a Pyromancer & Co. show is a show not to miss.

The Fire Sculpture built by Pyromancer & Co was a big hit at Firefly Night Market 2024. Feedback from attendees identified the Fire Sculpture as one of the top three highlights at the event, along with the vibrant stage program and diverse market stalls.

Pyromancer & Co worked collaboratively with local stakeholders including the Truganina CFA and Pasifika Community Australia Inc.

Local community members from the Pasifika Community were delighted with the opportunity to light the fire safely with CFA support. An impressive element of the sculpture was the flying bird that waved its wings once the fire was lit.

CERES hosts an annual Winter Solstice Festival for the local community, with the event culminating in a ceremonial fire.

We have engaged the services of Aidan Kempster and his team on a few occasions to create a customised creative sculpture for the festival. The works are creative, beautifully crafted and have been completed to a high standard.

The sculptures are a key engagement feature for the event and help connect people to the ritual element. The festival is attended by over 1,110 people.

Aidan has been a pleasure to work with, with easy communication and a clear understanding of the design brief. Aidan has a strong and professional approach to safety and ensures that this is communicated clearly to all production staff.

It was a collaborative process working with Aidan and I would be more than happy to work with Aidan and his team again.
